We're Bonnie Dee and Summer Devon and we write books together

Summer Devon and Bonnie Dee have co-written over a dozen books. Their historical novels often feature cross class romances which give the protagonists even greater hurtles to overcome than being gay men in dangerous times. Summer is the alter ego of author, Kate Rothwell, who writes gaslight historicals. Bonnie is interested in flawed, often damaged, people who find happiness together. These writers met by chance online and have had a fabulous time passing stories back and forth, creating characters and situations in what might be the world's longest party game.

A Christmas tale!

And for a couple more days, it'll be a story to fit the season. Simon and the Christmas Spirit.  A novella to devour during a break in the holiday havoc.

A Christmas trifle from Devon/Dee.

The holiday spirit has forsaken Simon Harris. A recent reminder of the man who used then left him sends lonely Simon on a glum visit to his cl
ub to while away a few hours. A breath of fresh air in the form of Christopher Andrews is about to enter his stale life.

Performer of many talents and faces, Christopher gained entrĂ©e into the club to win money at cards. Unfortunately, he’s losing. But the evening needn’t be a complete disappointment as he strikes up a friendship with a gentleman which ends in a bedroom.

Simon and Christopher enjoy a few hours of pleasure together, never expecting to see each other again, but Simon’s newfound resolution to change might just transform both their holidays.

A short story, which includes a brief excerpt. Simon and Christopher's future will appear in our next short: Will and the Valentine Saint.

The Shepherd and the Solicitor

When a storm is brewing, taking shelter could be the most dangerous move of all.

One careless, public sign of affection cost Daniel Pierce’s lover his life at the hands of a hate-filled mob. Grief-stricken, Daniel retreated from society to a sheep farm in the wilds of the north. Years later, Gregory Tobin erupts into his solitary life.

Sent to confirm the existence—or the death—of the Pierce family’s lost heir, Tobin isn’t sure he’s found the right man. The gruff, shaggy hermit calling himself Jacob Bennet bears little resemblance to photographs of the younger Pierce. Tobin needs more time to study his quarry.
With lambing season in full swing, Daniel grudgingly admits he could use an extra hand. Through a long, exhausting night, they parry back and forth as Tobin probes closer and closer to the truth. And something beyond casual attraction simmers between them.

They come together in a crash of desire, but ultimately Daniel must overcome the terrors of the past to reconcile the man he was with the man he’s becoming—a man capable of loving again.
Product Warnings
Many sexy encounters on a sheep farm—NO, not like THAT!—between two adult males with temperaments as different as night and day.

HAPPY NEW BOOK BIRTHDAY TO US!

A night lost in Paris finds two hearts changed—forever.

Sent to Paris on business, Nigel Warren doesn’t quite understand why his colleagues’ eyes twinkle as they tell him to meet them at a local night spot.
When he discovers it’s a drag cabaret and his acquaintances aren’t there, he realizes he’s the butt of a joke. Yet he finds himself quite undone by a singer dressed in an elegant gown, crooning a spellbinding ballad.

It’s not unusual for Jay, a former Londoner, to bring a new “friend” home from the cabaret, but he’s never had a guest quite like Nigel, whose straitlaced manner hides an unexpected passionate streak.

One romantic night on a rooftop under starry skies, followed by an afternoon enjoying the excitement of the 1901 Paris Exposition, bonds these opposites in a way neither can forget—even after they part.
Their spark reignites when Jay comes to London, but he’s not sure he can go back to hiding his true self, not even for the sake of love…unless Nigel is willing to shed his cloak of staid respectability and take a leap of faith.
Product Warnings
Contains a virgin who doesn’t speak French but is fluent in numbers, and a drag performer who is trilingual in English, French and Love. Not responsible for extra pounds brought on by the urge to dine on croissants au deux.

Bonnie Dee and Summer Devon have written another delightful, feel-good sexy romance, confirming once again why they are an auto-buy for me. I highly recommend this writing team, their Bohemian, and their Banker; they’ll leave you smiling for the rest of your day.

Though a good portion of this book is devoted to sensuality, the characters felt fully developed... We get to see the people under their facades—be they bland business suits and dolled-up frocks—and that gives this character-driven tale the required depth, purpose and meaning. The message of learning to love another as well as yourself continues to be relevant to this day. Recommended read.

What a delicious, delightful historical read! This is the first historical I have read by this writing duo but I will be sure to pick up their other works!
I could feel the atmosphere of time and place. Both characters radiated their station and yet were wholly themselves....Even if historical isn’t necessarily your thing, this is a great story about compromise and love. Give it a try!

The descriptions of everything from the food to the dresses to the smells to the art, you felt like you were walking down those streets with Nigel and Jay...So if you are planning to start right before bed, don’t. Or you may be lost and have to re-read.  Or stay up until 3AM.

This has got to be my favorite book by Bonnie Dee and Summer Devon.. . . I don’t know if it was the time-frame (turn of the 20th century) or just the characters themselves, but I was hooked on this story from the moment I started reading.
